John Barth | Technical Web Marketing

About me

Hi! I do technical web marketing and work in house for IXL Learning. To hear more about that, see the what I do page.

I love to hit the trails and run. I've done a few half marathons to date, but hoping to be an ultra runner come next year. I've been doing about 30-40 miles a week, mostly running in the mornings at Rancho San Antonio and once a week (or more) at Black Mountain. I like to hike as well, and have done a few hikes recently up in Hoover Wilderness. The highlight there was scrambling up Gabbro Peak. I couldn't find any evidence of anyone else scrambling up the face we treked up!

I grew up playing bridge, although as of late I haven't been playing. I played on the US Junior team in several international tournaments, and through that got to visit Bangkok, Thailand; Tianjin, China; and Quito, Ecuador. I still like to read books and do problems, and my parents send me problems in the mail and we all get a laugh out of my answers.

I volunteer most Sundays at Zombierunner behind the coffee bar with my lovely wife Courtney. Come and say hi, and get the best coffee or latte in Palo Alto!

My favorite site (with exception to where I work) is Reddit. If you don't know it, you're welcome, and say goodbye to your productivity for awhile. I also really like SEOMoz, in particular their blog and their Q&A forum. I participate in the Q&A and my profile is here. I'm currently ranked in the top 50 users on the site. I also have been enjoying Codecademy lessons, learning JavaScript, jQuery, and more.
